Expert Witness
MRSC Ltd can offer legal departments and lawyers expert opinion for both the ISM (International Safety Management Code) and general ship management services.
Captain David McFarlane has first-hand experience as an expert witness in the High Court of Justice in London, the Scottish Court of Session in Edinburgh, in Arbitration Hearings in both London and New York as well as giving testimony in USA Depositions. Cases have included fires, explosions, fatalities, collisions, groundings and personal injuries.
David is a member of the Expert Witness Institute.
Incident Investigation
Every company hopes that it will never be involved in a serious incident. However, even the best companies with excellent safety management systems may find themselves faced with an event that shakes their foundations, with the chance of severe damage to their reputation.
MRSC Ltd is able to investigate either independently or as part of the client’s incident team in an attempt to determine the root causes and avoid future recurrence.
Audits and Inspections
A variety of audit types and inspections can be carried out depending on the client’s needs and requirements.
These include safety inspections, ISM shipboard audits, company ‘health checks’ or reviews, navigational audits, tanker pre-vetting and TMSA compliance, amongst others.
Training
Training for ship operating companies includes risk assessment, accident investigation, management of change, ISM awareness, TMSA, environmental awareness and DPA training.
Training can be adapted and tailor-made to suit specific needs of individual companies, making use of their own Safety Management Systems, and is available for both office staff and crew. Training can be carried out on site at the client’s premises, aboard ship or at any other suitable location.
Maritime Risk and Safety
