MRSC Ltd offers a wide range of services to a variety of clients.

Ship Operators
It is appreciated that company internal resources can be stretched at times and it can make both economical and operational sense for certain services (such as internal audits, safety inspections, pre-vetting inspections, navigational audits, TMSA preparation audits and training services) to be carried out by MRSC Ltd.
Company ‘health checks’ can also be carried out by reviewing a company’s SMS and carrying out interviews with shore and sea staff in order to ensure that risk exposure is kept to a minimum and that due diligence prevails.
Assistance with the review of existing (or indeed the creation of new) Safety Management Systems is a further service which is available upon request.

Ship Owners
Ship owners place the utmost trust in the company that has been selected to operate or manage their vessels. However, in many cases, such trust is only verified by operator reports and an annual meeting concentrated around budget talks.
MRSC Ltd can carry out totally independent and unbiased reviews of ship operators and give confidential feedback to the ship owner regarding risk exposure. This service is useful not only for monitoring existing operators but also for considering new operators/managers.

Charterers
There are many charterers (both in the wet and dry trades) that do not have the luxury of an in-house inspection department and therefore place a great deal of reliance on information held within a select few databases when choosing ships for charter.
MRSC Ltd can assist these companies by visiting ship operators and their ships in order to give an unbiased opinion based primarily on risk exposure.

Insurance Companies
Hull and machinery underwriters, P&I Clubs and cargo insurers can all utilise the experience and services of MRSC Ltd in respect of conducting risk assessments of existing or potential clients, carrying out accident investigations, assisting with claims investigation and reporting as an expert witness.

Pilot Organisations
We can assist pilot organisations in starting off their journey with the International Standard for Maritime Pilotage Organisations (ISPO)Code by both training and assisting in setting up bespoke management systems.
The courses available are:
- ISPO Awareness
- ISPO Designated Person Training
Courses have already been run for Forth, Liverpool and Rotterdam pilots and most recently MRSC Ltd has been proud to help Sohar Pilots achieve ISPO Certification.

Banks/Financiers
While banks will naturally carry out their own financial risk assessments, it is just as important that any bank or finance company offering mortgages to commercial ships or yachts is satisfied that the vessel in question will be operated by a company that takes operational risk seriously.
MRSC Ltd is able to offer independent and unbiased operational risk assessments for any organisation considering offering finance to ship or super-yacht owners.

Yacht Owners/Managers
The investment in super-yachts must never be underestimated. It is therefore essential that owners and managers are fully satisfied that their vessels are operated within the minimum amount of risk.
As well as conducting risk assessments and audits, MRSC Ltd can offer bespoke training for both shore staff and yacht crews alike to ensure strict compliance with legislation and best practice.
Assistance can also be given in relation to writing or reviewing safety management systems to ensure that they are fit for purpose.

Flag Administrators
It is appreciated that some Flag States may have limited resources to carry out certain services.
MRSC Ltd can offer these Administrations assistance wtih safety inspections, auditing and incident investigations as required, ensuring that the respective Flag State rules and regulations are complied with.

Film/TV Producers
Technical detail is undoubtedly important and, if not given the right degree of attention, can lead to a disgruntled audience. MRSC Ltd can offer research and advice to production teams that have embarked on a project that involves commercial shipping (past and present) that will help ensure that the technical detail and continuity is accurate and correct.
Captain David McFarlane is also happy to appear in front of camera for the purpose of interviews and offering independent opinion regarding safety at sea. David has appeared on Sky News and has been interviewed on BBC Radio
